Andrew Grishko

Professional Title:
VISION PREM Fellow
Bio:

Andrew Grishko is a 20-year-old undergraduate student at the University of California, Merced, pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He plays and coaches volleyball, dedicating his free time to improving his skills in the sport. In addition to volleyball, his hobbies include woodworking, CAD, gaming, and spending quality time with friends and family.

For over a year, Andrew has been involved in the Baykara Lab as an undergraduate researcher. His work focuses on atomic-resolution imaging experiments using conductive atomic force microscopy (C-AFM). Over the past year, he has successfully recorded atomic-resolution images of 2D material samples, including few-layer and single-layer MoS₂ as well as WS₂, identifying defects such as single-atomic vacancies. His experience in atomic-resolution characterization of defects in 2D materials is expected to contribute significantly to the research objectives of VISION.
