Hayley Hoang

Professional Title:
VISION PREM Fellow
Bio:

Hayley is a Human Biology major with aspirations of becoming a surgeon, driven by a passion for science and helping others. Her research focuses on quantum optics via semiconductor systems, exploring their potential applications in medicine and technology.

Her work includes the Quantum Analogs project, which investigates parallels between acoustic and quantum physics, particularly how wave behavior in classical acoustic systems can model quantum phenomena for novel material applications. She has also collaborated on DNA Origami Templated Quantum Dots and contributed to the synthesis of MoSâ‚‚ through mechanical exfoliation for semiconductor-based quantum systems. This semester, she is developing a wavelength scanning interferometry tool for the rapid characterization of single- or few-atom-thick van der Waals quantum materials. Through this cutting-edge research, she aims to bridge scientific innovation with advancements in medicine and surgical technology.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Hayley enjoys spending time with family and friends and caring for her collection of over 20 indoor plants. A fun fact about her is that she has lived in seven different cities, which has shaped her love for new experiences.
