Reagan Chan

Professional Title:
VISION PREM Fellow
Bio:

Reagan Chan is a fourth-year bioengineering major with aspirations of attending dental school. As part of the VISION-PREM program, Reagan's research focuses on the synthesis and purification of DNA scaffold strands, which will be combined with staple and capture strands to form a single-stranded DNA tetrahedral cage. This structure is designed to encapsulate nanoparticles, such as gold or quantum dots.

To create the single-stranded DNA scaffold, Reagan utilized PCR and optimized the annealing process by adjusting temperatures to determine the most effective conditions. The results of this optimization were analyzed using gel electrophoresis characterization.

Beyond academics, Reagan enjoys listening to music, reading, and spending time with housemates. A fun fact about Reagan is that they are an immigrant from Hong Kong.
